Shown on the SpikeTV broadcast:
Josh Koscheck vs Jonathan Goulet
(Strikes) Round 1 4:10
Excellent fight. I really didn’t know which way this fight would go since I am a fan of both Goulet and Koscheck. Koscheck came out with some nice stand-up. He professed in the post-fight interview that his training has been consisting of 90% stand-up since he is confident in his ground skills.
Dean Lister vs Yuki Sasaki
(Unanimous Decision) Round 3 5:00
This was a decent fight. It was really one-sided as far as the ground game. Lister kept catching Sasaki in a myriad of holds but Sasaki was squirrely enough to get out of them. Standing was a little more Sasaki’s game. He was able to get in some good punches here and there but nothing that really seemed to thow Lister off. After winning the decision, Lister commented that he will put on a better fight next time.
Chris Leben vs Jorge Santiago
(KO Punch) Round 2 0:35
Leben wins a lot of matches but he doesn’t seem as smooth of a fighter as Swick or Koscheck but he does have some heavy hands that when they connect it sends people to the mat. I would like to see Leben take on Kos or Swick in a rematch fight.
Joe Riggs vs Jason Von Flue
(Triangle Choke) Round 1 2:01
Von Flue has never really been a fan favorite and now with this loss has 2 in a row. I think we should have a match between von Flue and Nick Diaz to see who gets to stay in the UFC. As far as Joe Riggs, I am glad to see him in a weight class that he feels comfortable in. I don’t really consider him contender material yet but while browsing his Sherdog profile I saw he had a win over Kendall Grove at Rumble on the Rock 5. With Kendall’s Ultimate Fighter win, I think this would be an excellent future fight for Kendall to avenge his loss and to really see how good Joe Riggs really is.
Diego Sanchez vs Karo Parisyan
(Unanimous Decision) Round 3 5:00
This was the war that everyone was expecting. Karo and Diego came out extremely aggressive thowing bombs with one of them catching Karo early on. It was a very even back and forth war. Karo was able to catch Diego in some nice feet over the head judo throws. It was really a battle of will, but you could see Diego slowly wearing Karo down. At one point, they are clinched and Diego is able to throw a knee to Karo’s face knocking a tooth loose to the canvas.
