UFC: All Access

A Day in the Life of Rich Franklin. I don’t know if they plan on replaying this but keep an eye out for it on SpikeTV. Host Rachelle Leah did alright as the host of the show. Watching Franklin’s training regime makes it easy to understand why he is the champion. He starts out with a brisk morning run on his treadmill in the basement of his house, then he chugs his special Xyience milkshake and goes to workout with his personal trainer. The personal trainer puts him through a pretty rigorous circuit training system for an entire hour. Rachelle would mostly look on in amazement. Frank proceeded to visit with his boxing/kickboxing coach where he practices his stand-up for about another hour then proceeds to Jorge Gurgel’s school to get in some groundwork. I knew they were teammates from the Ultimate Fighter show but Franklin really credits Gurgel with being his “right-hand man.” They also spend some time visiting an auto body shop to take in Franklin’s jeep and to pick up his tricked-out Hummer that he received from coaching the show.

It really was insightful and a good motivator for people training in MMA. Hopefully, they will keep these shows coming and give a behind-the-scenes look at all the atheletes. I especially would like to see Chuck Liddell’s and Andrei Arlovski’s training methods.
